Raipur, 22 July 2021. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that senior journalist Late Shri Lalit Surjan ji has given new heights to the journalism of Chhattisgarh by carrying forward the tradition of fair, creative and public-concerned journalism. He integrated all these three areas in Deshbandhu through journalism, literature and social service. Mr. Baghel was the chief editor of Deshbandhu newspaper group from his residence office today. Shri Lalit was addressing the 75th birth anniversary celebrations of Surjan virtually. The program was organized by the Chhattisgarh unit of All India Peace and Solidarity Committee. Chief Minister Shri Baghel also inaugurated a website based on the works, articles and works of Shri Lalit Surjan ji on this occasion. Senior journalists, litterateurs and intellectuals from the country and abroad joined the program virtually.
The Chief Minister said that I have also had a close relationship with Deshbandhu. Deshbandhu letter group and self in Chhattisgarh journalism. I have also seen, known and understood the invaluable contribution of Shri Lalit Surjan ji. He led an active and creative life of about 60 years. He was a book lover, a traveler, an eco-lover, an art lover and a culture nerd. Through his editorial remarks and articles, he made effective interventions on burning issues ranging from villages to the national level. He was a storehouse of information. Deshbandhu’s rich library is a testament to his book love and curious nature.
Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that the basic goal of late Lalit Surjan’s journalism is to create a just world and protect the natural rights of human beings. He used pen for these goals. He worked relentlessly to create a democratic society through his writings and editing. He wanted to build a society that believes in the principle of equality and fraternity, following the path laid down by the Constitution. He made constant efforts to give their place in the society to the minorities, women, weaker section people, exploited and deprived.
The Chief Minister said that late Shri Lalit Surjan, because of his commitment towards his thoughts and works, his institution was called ‘Deshbandhu School of Journalism’. Many people who have come out of this school are making remarkable contribution in various fields of the society. They wanted to make a better world. We should discharge our duties by following the paths shown by them in the direction of fulfilling their dreams. Not only his memories, but his writings and contributions should also be preserved so that future generations can be inspired.
The program was also addressed by former Governor of Chhattisgarh Mr. Shekhar Dutt, President of Chhattisgarh unit of All India Peace and Solidarity Committee and former MP Ms. Pushpa Devi Singh, former MP Mr. Pallav Sengupta, Prof. Purshottam Agrawal. The program was conducted by Shri Vinaysheel and Dr. Rakesh Gupta, General Secretary of Chhattisgarh Unit of All India Peace and Solidarity Committee and Shri Rajiv Ranjan Srivastava showed gratitude.
