Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has given loan waiver to farmers, waiver of outstanding irrigation tax on farmers, increasing the compensation for acquisition of agricultural land to four times, as well as several decisions taken in the interest of farmers, has made Chhattisgarh a farmer welfare state in the country. model has been made.
This is the reason, that with the increase in the agricultural area and the number of farmers in the state, the interest of the people towards farming has increased. Through the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, direct help of Rs 10 thousand 176 crore has been given to lakhs of farmers in the state as input subsidy. Due to this, the farmers and agriculture of the state have got financial support in the odd situation of corona infection. In March 2022, an amount of about 1500 crores will be given to the farmers as the fourth installment of this year under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana.
With the aim of promoting crop productivity and crop diversification in the state by the Government of Chhattisgarh, the scope of this scheme, starting from May 20, 2020, on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister of India, Shri Rajiv Gandhi, has been expanded. In this scheme, the farmers producing all the major crops of Kharif and Horticulture have been included. Under this scheme, farmers will be given an amount of 9 thousand rupees per acre in four installments every year as input subsidy.
The Godhan Nyay scheme launched by the Chhattisgarh government for the purpose of conservation and promotion of livestock in the state has been appreciated by the country and the world. It has taken the form of the most popular scheme today. Under this scheme cow dung is being purchased for Rs.2 a kg. So far, approval has been given for the construction of 10,591 Gauthans in the State, out of which 7,933 Gauthans are built and operated. Under Godhan Nyay Yojana, 61.07 quintals of cow dung has been purchased so far in Gauthans and Rs 122 crore 17 lakh has been paid to the dung vendors. A new revolution has started in the state of vermicompost production and use from cow dung, which will help in solving the impending chemical fertilizer crisis in the country. So far, Rs 45.31 crore has been given to Gauthan committees and Rs 29.46 crore to women self-help groups as dividend.
10 lakh 38 thousand quintal vermi compost and more than 4 lakh 36 thousand quintal super compost manure have been manufactured by women groups from the dung purchased under Godhan Nyay Yojana. Which is being supplied through the societies to various departments of the government and farmers at a concessional rate. Various income-oriented activities are being conducted by women’s groups, due to which women’s groups have earned an income of Rs. 50 crore 57 lakhs so far.
There are 11,463 women self-help groups directly associated with Gauthans in the state, whose membership number is about 80 thousand. Joining Gauthans and Godhan Nyay Yojana has instilled a new confidence in women’s groups towards self-reliance. Electricity generation has been started in Gauthans by purchasing cow dung. MoU has been signed to make natural paint from cow dung. On the initiative of Chhattisgarh government, pulse mill and oil mill are being established in Gauthan. In the first phase, the process of establishing pulse mills in 188 Gauthans and oil mills in 148 Gauthans has been started. As of today, 2201 Gauthans have become self-supporting in the state. About 2 lakh rural, animal husbandry farmers are getting benefited from Godhan Nyay Yojana. Women make up 44.92 percent of those earning additional income by selling cow dung. 93 thousand 977 landless families are also getting benefited from this scheme.
Chhattisgarh government has bought paddy on support price, loan waiver, irrigation tax waiver, crop insurance, incentive amount, through the purchase of cow dung under Godhan Nyay Yojana, so far the total amount of more than Rs 85 thousand crores has been given to the farmers. directly transferred to the accounts. By promoting the collection and processing of minor forest produce in the state, the Chhattisgarh government has also increased the income of tribal forest produce collecting families. Besides increasing the rate of collection of tendu leaves from 2500 per standard bag to 4000 thousand per standard bag, as well as increase in the support price of other minor forest produce, the income of the collectors has increased. Instead of 7 types of minor forest produce in the state, now 61 types of minor forest produce are being purchased on support price. In order to benefit the collectors, the work of value addition, processing of minor forest produce has also been started. Kodo, Chhattisgarh is the only state in the country to purchase Kutki and Ragi at support price. In the forest areas of the state, farmers cultivate Kodo, Kutki and Ragi. Chhattisgarh Millet Mission has been started to encourage millet cultivation.
