Detailed discussion on monitoring of wildlife roaming in border areas, prevention of hunting, protection, human-wildlife conflict, forest crime control

A joint meeting of border forest officials of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh on “human-wildlife conflict and wildlife crime control” was organized on 09 December at Vishram Bhavan Chilfi of Public Works Department under Bhoramdeo Sanctuary Chilfi area. In the meeting, a detailed discussion was held by the officials on monitoring, protection, protection of elephants, lions and other wildlife roaming in the border areas of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, human-wildlife conflict, prevention of wildlife hunting, control of forest crime etc.   

     Divisional Forest Officer Kawardha Mr. Chudamani Singh first informed about the activities of lion-elephants roaming in the corridor of Achanakmar Tiger Reserve, Fen Sanctuary, Kanha Tiger Reserve Madhya Pradesh and Bhoramdev Sanctuary through power point presentation by Mr. Upendra Dubey, WWF India. Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. B.P. Singh gave information regarding wildlife conflict and natural habitat. 

     Director Kanha Tiger Reserve Area, Madhya Pradesh Mr. SK Singh discussed and suggested the control of wildlife crime in about 250 border villages of Kanha Tiger Reserve, Fen Wildlife Sanctuary, Bhoramdev Sanctuary, Achanakmar Tiger Reserve, Khairagarh, Rajnandgaon, Kawardha and Dindori Forest Division lamps. In this regard, continuous monitoring of wild animals, measures for protection and public awareness etc. were discussed so that the common people are not harmed by wild animals. 
    It is worth noting that from Gorela-Pendra Marwahi towards Achanakmar Tiger Reserve-Pandariya-Taregaon-Fen Sanctuary, Kanha Tiger Reserve keeps wandering back on the same route, due to which there is a possibility of loss of life and animals in the nearby villages. . The subject of awareness regarding controlling and reducing elephant-human conflict and timely exchange of information between the officials of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh were discussed. In the meeting, measures to avoid local citizens during elephant movement, awareness, training of field staff, protection of wildlife from poachers, identification of poachers and taking necessary action, preparation of outline for joint regional tour, superstition among forest dwellers There was a detailed discussion on creating awareness to remove pollution, starting eco-tourism, identifying grass and forest grounds and counting etc.
