Raipur, October 25, 2021. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has congratulated all the participants under Jal Jeevan Mission and the families benefited by this scheme on the special achievement of providing drinking water connections to the homes of more than one lakh villagers of the state by October 25 in the financial year 2021-22 and drinking water through household tap connections to 6 lakh 50 thousand rural families so far.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, rapid work is being done to provide 55 liters of drinking water per person per day in rural areas of the state. Under this mission, a target has been set to provide drinking water through household tap connections to more than 39 lakh rural households in rural areas of the country by the year 2023.
The Chief Minister has said that supply of pure drinking water to every household in rural areas through tap connections is the top priority of the State Government. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 55 liters of drinking water is to be supplied per person per day, keeping this criterion in mind, in order to maintain the availability of water for a long time, water recharging work is being done on a large scale in the state under Narva Yojana. In the last one and a half years, water conservation and promotion works in coordination with various departments including Forest Department, Water Resources Department, Panchayat and Rural Development Department have led to a significant increase in the ground water level in many areas.
