Release of reading material for multi-language teaching on the basis of linguistic survey in the state
On-demand capacity building program for teachers on using podcasts to tell stories to children in their local language

School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam launched various programs to improve the education of tribal children on International Mother Language Day on February 21. He launched an online course for online on-demand multi-language teaching for district and development block level officers. On the basis of linguistic survey in the state, reading material was released for teachers to give multi-language education to children. Along with this, on-demand capacity building program of teachers was also launched to use podcasts to tell stories to children in their local language.
It is notable that Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has announced to provide education to school children in their local language in the state. This work is being continuously reviewed by School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam. On the basis of which various works have been started on mother tongue teaching, the children of tribal areas in the state are getting its benefit. Chhattisgarh is the first state where the work of linguistic survey has also been completed in collaboration with Language and Learning Foundation (LLF) and UNICEF. In such a situation, now when the local language is to be used in the classes for the children to learn, an online course has been launched for the officers of the School Education Department. School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam has appealed to all the officers to do this course and help the teachers to learn in the local language.
Chhattisgarh is the first state which has conducted a linguistic survey based on the language spoken by the children. Reference material has been prepared on behalf of Samagra Shiksha to understand this report and to make necessary improvements in the teaching methods by informing teachers on various issues related to multilingualism in schools. This material will be made available to the teachers of primary schools.
At present, a monthly discussion paper is published in the form of a podcast by a team of teachers in the state, which teachers listen to with great interest and try to implement the things said in it in their respective classes. In this series, along with some expert teachers, some local language knowledgeable teachers and some external organizations who want to cooperate in this work, compilation of various local stories, making podcasts on them, later sharing the print version of some selected stories. Tasks like doing will be done together with this team. A team of interested people will be formed for this work through social media. These podcasts can be used by teachers in schools using mobiles, speakers available in primary schools, etc. By listening to this podcast, children will be able to feel proud knowing their culture, history and traditions.
It is also proposed to be uploaded on “Vidanjali” portal for technical support in podcast production, demand and support on the basis of requirement of equipment for use in their classes. School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam has appealed to local language knowledgeable teachers, active elders of the community, technically competent teachers to cooperate in preparing podcasts and all officers to take this online course seriously.
