Raipur: Integration with police to make child helpline effective

In order to provide quick assistance to children and women, Child Helpline CHL-1098 for children and Women Helpline WHL-181 for women are operated as 24-hour emergency service. To make the said helpline more effective, integration is being done with ERSS-112 operated by the police department. In order to make the helpline effective, today at Mahanadi Bhawan, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Secretary, Women and Child Development, Smt. Shammi Abidi, C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram, Police Department’s ERSS-112 team, BSNL, Railways and Women and Child Development Took a joint meeting of department officials. He instructed the officials to make the helpline effective for immediate help to children and women. Director Women and Child Development Mrs. Tulika Prajapati was also present in the meeting.

Secretary Mrs. Shammi Abidi conducted a detailed review of the implementation of the instructions given in the last meeting. It was informed in the meeting that at present hardware for operating child helpline has been installed in all 33 districts. WCD of Child Helpline in 32 districts. Operation has started after integration with the control room. Instructions were given to officials of C-DAC and BSNL to complete the integration process. Women helpline units are being established and operated in One Stop Centers (Sakhi Centres) in 27 districts of the state. Secretary, Women and Child Development directed the officials and departmental officers from Railway Raipur and Bilaspur that in the best interest of children, child helpline should be operated at a suitable place in Raipur and Bilaspur Railway Station. In this regard, he instructed the concerned officers to ensure prompt action and to inspect the site themselves and submit a report. Secretary, Women and Child Development conducted a detailed review of the cases received in Child Helpline-1098 and WHL-181 and gave instructions to the concerned officers for speedy disposal of the pending cases.
