Farmers used 20.64 lakh quintal vermi compost in agriculture

In Chhattisgarh, due to the easy availability of high quality vermicompost at a subsidized rate, the trend of farmers towards organic farming has increased. The farmers of the state have now started using vermicompost in farming. Due to the system of providing vermicompost from the cooperative societies in the form of agricultural loan at the rate of only Rs. 10 per kg, the farmers have found it easier.

 It is worth noting that under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana, vermicompost and other compost fertilizers are being prepared on a large scale by women groups from cow dung being purchased at Rs. 2 per kg in Gauthans. The quality of compost manure is many times better than the manure sold by private companies at a higher price in the market. So far, more than 36 lakh 3 thousand 856 quintals of compost has been produced from cow dung procured in Gothans by women groups, in which 30 lakh 39 thousand 676 quintal vermi compost, 5 lakh 45 thousand 258 quintal super compost and 18924 quintal super compost Plus fertilizer is included, which is being sold through societies at the rate of Rs. 10, Rs. 6 and Rs. 6.50 per kg respectively. 28 thousand 67 thousand 666 quintals of compost manure produced by the Gauthan women’s group has been sold. Out of which, more than 20 lakh 64 thousand quintals of vermi compost farmers have used in their fields after lifting it from the societies in the form of agricultural loan. At present, 5.78 lakh quintals of vermi compost is ready in the Gauthans of the state, which is being packaged and sent to the societies. Vermicompost production is going on continuously in Gauthans, due to which the supply of vermicompost to the farmers will continue.

Apart from vermicompost from cow dung, women groups are earning profit by manufacturing and selling cow-wood, diyas, incense sticks, idols and other materials. Apart from this, production of vegetables and mushrooms, poultry, goat, fish farming and animal husbandry as well as various other income-oriented activities are being conducted by the women’s groups in Gothans, due to which the women’s groups have earned an income of Rs 158 crore 42 lakh so far. It’s over There are 17,486 women self-help groups directly associated with Gothans in the state, whose membership is 2,05,817. Electricity and natural paint and other materials are also being produced from purchased cow dung in Gauthans.
