On the initiative of the Chief Minister, 33 solar high mast lights were installed in the elephant affected areas of Surajpur district.

Farmers of Pratappur area of Surajpur district will be able to do farming and crop maintenance easily without any fear, apart from this, they will be able to get help in reaching safe places when elephants come. On the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, 33 solar high mast lights have been installed in elephant-affected villages of the region.
It may be noted that during the Chief Minister’s state-wide meet-and-greet programme, the villagers of Govindpur village of elephant-affected area of Pratappur development block of Surajpur district demanded the Chief Minister to install solar high mast lights in the elephant-affected areas. The villagers said that due to the darkness in the village, when the elephant came, the villagers had to face inconvenience in moving to other places to take shelter in a safe place. Installation of solar high mast lights will help them to move to and from a safe place.
On the demand of the villagers, the Chief Minister had instructed the officers to install solar high mast lights on the spot. Acting on this announcement of the Chief Minister, the officials of the District Administration, Forest Department and CREDA visited the elephant-affected areas and selected a suitable place for setting up the solar high mast. 33 nos. of solar high mast lights have been installed at the site selected by CREDA.
Villagers are happy with the installation of solar high mast lights in elephant-affected villages. Lighting has now been arranged near the surrounding forests adjacent to the village. With this, they will be able to get information about the arrival of elephants in advance. Also, you will not have to face darkness while returning from the fields in the evening. Now they will be able to take care of the crop without any fear, besides it will be easier for them to go to a safe place. The villagers expressed their thanks and gratitude to the Chief Minister for installing solar lights in the elephant-affected areas on his initiative.
