Through the various schemes of the government such as skill development, water management work, green revolution expansion, MNREGA, tribal sub-plan and mineral trust fund, the agency is doing remarkable work of conservation of natural resources and livelihood promotion by which farming in rural areas The rich and the farmers are moving fast towards prosperity.
Coordinated farming has also started a new phase in the lives of the farmers of rural areas in the districts of Koriya, Kanker, Rajnandgaon, Durg, Korba, Bilaspur to remote Vananchal in the state of Chhattisgarh. Various field trials, front-line demonstrations, contemporary, “need-based” skills are being provided to farmers, agricultural women, rural youth in about 25 villages of Kanker district. In the year 2015, the concept of nutritional security and income was established by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, in which a sequence of production of various vegetables has been prepared so that fresh vegetables can be made available throughout the year. This nutrition garden was first expanded to 70 residential schools and then expanded to the entire Chhattisgarh state. Kadaknath breed of poultry which is full of unique qualities. So far, more than 2 lakh pieces of chickens have been produced by installing artificial hatchery in the center of this breed, which has been expanded to 25 other districts of Chhattisgarh and 4 other states including Kanker district.
The coordinated farming system model of more than 80 farmers in the district has been established by convergence of various projects. Under crop diversification, farmers are being encouraged for cultivation of lac in primary land and primary processing. At present, more than 25 farmers are doing lac production in Semialta and are processing the lac from the processing unit set up at Vigyan Kendra.
Under agricultural mechanization, the sowing and processing of paddy and other crops is being promoted through training and demonstration. To provide the seeds of the latest varieties of pulses to farmers in the district, a seed processing center for pulses crops has been set up, in which seeds are produced with farmer participation, which are distributed to the farmers of the district through departmental schemes.
