Panchayat and Rural Development Minister informed about the functions of bank associates on radio
Raipur. 11 October 2020. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri T.S. Singhdev today informed about the work of bank associates providing banking services in remote areas in the state. He explained in detail about the services provided by the bank associates in a special program ‘Hamar Gram Sabha’ broadcast from Akashvani Raipur at 7:30 pm today. Mr. Singhdev said that bank associates have played an important role in extending banking services to remote villages in times of Corona crisis. He also answered the questions asked by the audience at the event.
Mr. Singhdev told in ‘Hamar Gram Sabha’ that banks are working to reach and deposit cash in the areas where banks are scarce and in remote villages. They reach the village of the beneficiaries and are giving the amount of MNREGA wages, pension and scholarship in their hands. Going to the homes of the elders and the differently-abled, the bankers are sending them cash. With this facility offered by Bank Sakhi, villagers no longer have to go to the bank again and again for small amount transactions. Also, it takes time, money and labor to travel to the bank located in the city far away from the village.
The Panchayat and Rural Development Minister said in the program that the government aims to provide bank sakhi facilities to all villages. Through this, rural women are also getting employment. Shri Singhdev also informed about the criteria and procedure for selection of Bank Sakhi in the program. He told that any woman of the village can become a banker, provided she comes to operate a laptop and biometric machine. He informed that the State Rural Livelihoods Mission imparts training to selected women for Bank Sakhi.
To inform people of departmental schemes and motivate people to take advantage of them, the weekly radio program ‘Hamar Gram Sabha’ prepared by the Panchayat and Rural Development Department and Thakur Pyarelal State Panchayat and Rural Development Institute, Nimora, by Raipur, every Sunday evening at seven thirty. It is broadcast till noon. It is broadcast in Chhattisgarhi and Surgujiha from Ambikapur center of All India Radio, Chhattisgarh and Kuduk from Raigad center and Chhattisgarhi and Halbi dialects from Jagdalpur center. At the same time, other stations of All India Radio located in the state broadcast it in Chhattisgarhi.
