Raipur, 03 December 2021.Pathology and microbiology have an important contribution in medical science. We have also been able to identify a terrible epidemic like corona through pathology and we are also protecting it. This was stated by Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey while addressing the 69th Annual National Conference of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists virtually. The conference was based on the theme “A Meeting of Minds to Revise, Advanced Practices and Progress in Pathology”. The Governor also remembered Dr. Rudolf Virchow, the father of pathology science on the occasion. He conveyed his best wishes to the organizing committee for this annual conference.
The Governor said that pathology science is an important branch of medical science, in which subject experts study the causes of disease, structural abnormalities and changes produced by disease. Pathologists play an important role in the diagnosis of diseases. Correct treatment can be done only by diagnosing the disease accurately through various experimental tests and the actual progress of treatment can also be seen from the investigation. Pathology is also of great importance in various researches of medical science.
He said that years ago when medical science was not fully developed, then treatment was done on the basis of symptoms only, but with the development of pathology science, we can easily find out which disease the patient is having by doing various tests. Based on that we can treat it accurately. Let us imagine how we would have been able to differentiate between malaria, dengue and other infectious diseases if pathology had not been developed.
The Governor said that the shortage of pathology centers and pathologists is being felt in remote and rural areas. Therefore, there is a need to start courses like its postgraduate and diploma. Along with this, training should also be provided by setting the standard level for this. For this, initiative should be taken by the Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists.
Governor said that it is a matter of great pleasure that more than 1500 participants have registered for this conference and posters and papers are being presented by 600 to 700 scientists, which shows the enthusiasm of the participants for this convention. In this conference, lectures will be given by experts of international and national level on various sub-disciplines of pathology subject like Histopathology, Cytology, Clinical Pathology, Molecular Pathology, which will benefit the Faculty of the country as well as postgraduate students.
