Vehicle seized with 93 pieces of mixed species wood in Balod and 5 pieces of illegal teak sleeper in Bhopalpatnam
Continuous action on illegal activities by Forest Department

On the instructions of Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar, continuous action is being taken by the Forest Department on illegal transportation of wood. In this episode, 93 pieces of mixed species of estimated value of about 75 thousand near village Karkabhat turn on Jhalmala-Dhamtari main road by the team of Forest Range Balod, 6.522 g.m. Prohibited woods were seized. Similarly, action is being taken by confiscating 5 teak sleepers and Tata Magic vehicles by the forest department team in Bhopalpatnam forest range Tarlaguda Naka of Bijapur district.
PCCF Shri V. Mazda vehicle number CG 08 L 0918 (JJ 1109) was seized and brought to the jail Balod due to illegal transportation under the direction of Srinivasa Rao and Forest Divisional Officer Balod Mr. Ayush Jain. Forest crime case number 96/22 dated 16.08.2023 is being registered against the driver Pankaj and Johan due to illegal filling of tamarind and neem wood in the seized vehicle. Section 41 of Indian Forest Conservation Act 1927 and Ch.G. Action is being taken under Forest Produce Transport Rules 2001.

According to the information received from Shahid, according to the information received from the informer in Bijapur Forest Division, the Forest Department has arrested two accused who were smuggling 5 pieces of teak sleepers in Tata Magic vehicle by laying siege to Tarlaguda Naka. Illegal teak was being transported by accused T. Srikanth and Sheikh Khasim by making a secret compartment on top of the passenger vehicle. Action will be taken against both the accused by the Forest Department under the provisions of Forest Act and Public Property Loss Prevention Act.
