Due to her strong will, courage and dedication, Mrs. Duleshwari Dewangan of village Konari of Dongargaon development block in Rajnandgaon district has traveled from a housewife to an e-rickshaw driver. She has set an example of women empowerment by running e-rickshaws in rural areas. The State Rural Livelihoods Mission ‘Bihan’ has supported and supported his courage.

Smt. Duleshwari Dewangan informed that after joining Bihan group she is working as a village organization assistant and active woman. The family’s financial condition was not well before joining the group. Earlier, the family had a small grocery store and 1.50 acres of land as a means of income. The income from this could barely meet the daily requirements. After joining Bihan group, he got information about e-rickshaw scheme from Janpad Panchayat. The application given by him for e-rickshaw was approved. To buy a rickshaw, he took a loan of 50 thousand rupees from the State Bank of India branch of Dongargaon. The value of the rickshaw was Rs 1 lakh 60 thousand, in which the Labor Department gave them a subsidy of Rs 1 lakh. Mrs. Duleshwari Dewangan was given driving license by the Regional Transport Office after learning to drive an e-rickshaw.

Mrs. Duleshwari Dewangan is now running e-rickshaws from her village Konari to Dongargaon and rural areas. She is also doing the work of sending school children to school during school days. Their e-rickshaws have provided facilities to people in rural and remote areas. At the same time, the participation of women has also increased. With the additional income from e-rickshaws, he has expanded his grocery store and started a fancy store. Now they earn around 10 thousand rupees per month from e-rickshaws. With the expansion of the grocery store, income of Rs 12,000 per month is being generated. In this way, their income has increased to 2 lakh 64 thousand rupees annually. She said that after successful operation of the e-rickshaw, she wants to get a car. At the same time self-help groups want to work together with members to produce mushrooms.
