Raipur, 16 April 2021. In the last two years, effective efforts have been made by the Government of Chhattisgarh to make the health facility people-oriented. Due to the increase in the health infrastructure of the state, the health staff has also increased. In the last two years, the number of medical college hospitals in the state has increased from 6 to 9, the number of district hospitals has increased from 26 to 28 and the number of civil hospitals has increased from 19 to 20. In the last two years, 15 MCH Hospitals with 50 beds and 6 MCH Hospitals with 100 beds have been set up. During this period, 6 new sub-health centers and a community health center have also been established.
As a result of the efforts made in the state in the last two years to improve the health facility, the number of medical staff including specialists, doctors, medical officers has increased from 18,458 to 20,405, in which the number of specialists, doctors has increased from 175 319, the number of medical officers has increased from 1359 to 1818 and the number of staff nurses has increased from 2580 to 4091. Presently the recruitment of 300 medical officers, 92 staff nurses, 50 medical lab technologists and 146 rural health coordinators (women) is under process.
To provide free health facilities to the citizens of the state, along with Ayushman Yojana, Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme, Sanjeevani Aid Kosh, Chief Minister Bal Hriday Suraksha Yojana, Chief Minister Bal Shravan Yojana and Chirayu Yojana are being operated. All the above schemes have been included in Dr. Khubchand Baghel Health Scheme, Ayushman Yojana and Chief Minister Special Health Scheme operated by the Government of Chhattisgarh. As of December 2018, the number of Ayushman card holders in the state was just 2,23,793. Which has increased to one crore 13 lakh 57 thousand 441 as on date. With this, the benefit of free health facility is being made available to the citizens of the state easily in government and recognized hospitals. The number of families benefiting from free health care in the state has increased from 56 lakhs to 67 lakhs. Out of which free treatment facility is being provided to 56 lakh BPL families up to Rs. 5 lakh per annum and 9 lakh APL families up to Rs. 50 thousand per year. Under the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance Scheme, free medical facility of up to Rs 20 lakh is being provided to the citizens of the state for the treatment of serious diseases. The number of government and recognized hospitals in the state has increased from 1088 to 1359 in the last two years, where free health facility is being provided to the citizens as per eligibility through Ayushman card or ration card.
