Women earn Rs. 3 lakh by selling vermicompost and earthworms

Raipur, 29 May 2023, Hard work is the golden key that opens the door to success. Today, the women of self-help groups working in Gauthans have given meaning to this statement. The Godhan NYAY Yojana has become a support system for economically weak farmers, laborers, animal herders, and daily-wage working women living in remote areas. The Godhan NYAY Yojana has helped women who were formerly working as daily wage laborers become independent. They now contribute more to meeting the requirements of their family, including their own. Their self-esteem and confidence have grown. Members of the Indira Women Self-Help Group from Masul village in the Rajnandgaon district Churia development are engaged in the production of vermicompost. Additionally, they are connected to numerous livelihood-oriented activities.

 

The group President of Indira Women Self-Help Group, Mrs. Devkunwar Yadav, stated that 11 members of her group belong to poor and needy families. They got training for the production of vermicompost under the guidance of panchayat officers, the Rural Development Department, and the Agriculture Department, including training for various livelihood-oriented activities. She stated that the sale of vermicompost generated a dividend of Rs 2 lakh 75 thousand, while the sale of earthworms made a profit of Rs 93,000. She further stated that from the amount they earned, they purchased a spice grinding machine. They sell these spices in local markets and nearby villages. Through selling spices, they earn 30 to 40 thousand rupees annually. The women of the group have earned 50–60 thousand rupees from poultry farming and through cultivating and selling vegetables on a community farm, they have earned Rs. 84,000 annually. Mrs. Devkunwar Yadav, expressing gratitude towards Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, stated that the Godhan NYAY Yojana has empowered us. Livelihood-oriented activities in Gauthans and finding employment near our places have made our lives easier.
