Raipur: Happiness reflected on the faces of women after getting water in homes

Raipur, 30 August 2021. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, now clean drinking water is being supplied to people in remote villages by giving tap connections to their homes. Under the scheme, tap connection will be provided to every house in every village of the district. Under the scheme, pure drinking water is being supplied from house to house through solar pumps in Gadriyapara of Lakhasar, village panchayat of Takhatpur block of Bilaspur district. 23 in village Gadariapara under Jal Jeevan Mission. Taps have been installed in 13 out of 30 houses of this village having population of 244 at a cost of 26 lakhs, remaining work is in progress. Under Jal Jeevan Mission, pure drinking water is being supplied from house to house through solar pumps in Gadariapara of Lakhasar Gram Panchayat of Takhatpur block of Bilaspur district. Similarly, retrofitting scheme has been started in Gram Panchayat Lakhasar at a cost of Rs. 1 crore 6 lakh 99 thousand, under which two overhead tanks of 80 kiloliter and 75 kiloliter capacity have been made. The expansion of the pipeline is also being done by creating two zones here. With this, water from the tap will reach 401 houses of Lakhasar village.

 

Mrs. Meenakshi Paul, Mrs. Jovidha Paul and Mrs. Anjani Paul, who were benefited from Jal Jeevan Mission, told that earlier they had to bring water from public hand pumps in the street, and it was also difficult to carry water to their homes. Many a times, due to the crowd, one had to stand in long queues, as well as the problem increased during the rainy days. We have small children who had to be left at home. Now we have got a lot of relief from getting water from the tap at our house. Mr. Dilharan and Mr. Sitaram of the village say that time is being saved due to the installation of taps in every house, which is also facilitating going to work and taking care of the house. Rural women have thanked Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Public Health Engineering Minister Guru Rudrakumar for their gratitude.

Officials of the Public Health Engineering Department said that till now drinking water was available only in urban areas through the Nal Jal Yojana. A target has been set to provide connections to one lakh houses by March next year and so far tap connections have been given within 4 thousand houses. These connections are also being given in schools and Anganwadi centres. He informed that water testing is also being done in villages under the scheme. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the supply of pure drinking water is being ensured by regularly checking the water quality.
