The Godhan Nyaya Yojana of Chhattisgarh Government is opening the way of progress for cattle herders, women, farmers and common people. By joining income generating activities in Gothan, women are getting employment at the local level and their standard of living has improved. Their involvement in meeting the needs of themselves and their families has increased. In fact this scheme has boosted the confidence of women.

In Ranatola Gothan of Mohla development block of the district, women of Maa Mamta self-help group are working to make vermicompost from cow dung in Gothan. So far, the women’s group has earned a profit of Rs 2 lakh by selling vermi compost and super compost. President of Maa Mamta Self Help Group, Mrs. Taramati told that earlier they used to do agricultural work or wages in the village. Ever since Gauthan has been built in our village, we are producing vermi compost from cow dung. He told that so far the women of the self-help group have prepared 973.30 quintal vermi-fertilizer, out of which 959 quintal manure has been sold. Taramati further said that earthworms are also being prepared and sold in Gauthan. With the money earned by selling manure, Taramati has bought herself silver anklets and girdle.

Other women belonging to the group told that with the income earned by selling vermicompost, they now contribute to the household expenses of the family and are also meeting the needs of themselves and their children. Everyone bought a mobile phone according to their own needs, while others spent money for the education of their children.
