Raipur: Handloom showing the path of self-reliance to the villagers: Minister Guru Rudrakumar: Chhattisgarh Handloom Association has provided employment to 57 thousand 795 weavers.

Raipur, 30 October 2020. As per the intention of the Chhattisgarh Government, under the guidance of Village Industries Minister Guru Rudrakumar, the Chhattisgarh Handloom Association has shown the path of self-reliance to the villagers. Minister Guru Rudrakumar has one and the state of Chhattisgarh is second in the country in terms of reducing the unemployment rate, while Chhattisgarh Handloom Association of Village Industries Department has directly and indirectly engaged about 57 thousand 795 weavers in employment. Minister Guru Rudrakumar said that while appreciating the activities conducted in the handloom association, the village industry has played its part in providing employment to the people of rural areas and giving impetus to the rural economy.
Director of Village Industries Shri Sudhakar Khalkho said that in the last two years, about 57 thousand 795 weavers are directly and indirectly employed in 19 thousand 265 handlooms in the state. Out of the 274 working weavers ‘committees in the state, 234 weavers’ committees are producing 59 types of government textiles in the handloom association.
Also, in the last 24 months, handloom weavers have been supplying garments worth Rs 368.75 crore to the government departments. The handloom union has distributed yarn worth Rs 106.45 crore to the weavers of the state through weavers’ cooperatives for weaving garments.  Khalkho informed that weavers have been given Rs. 104.85 crore weaving wages in the last 24 months due to the production of government textiles. From 06 Institutes Titan “Tanira” Paramon Industries Mumbai, Handicrafts Board Bhopal, Nafed Delhi, Ekgaon Technology Gandhinagar and Nepal Cottage Industries Kathmandu for marketing of state-produced textiles at International Buyer-seller Conference held in Raipur from 20 to 22 September 2019. MOU was done. He informed that in the financial year 2020-21, for the sale as per open market demand, “MOU from TRIFED” was done. After the International Buyer-Seller Conference, garments worth Rs 55.95 lakh were sold to various marketing institutions. By joining the Chhattisgarh Handloom Association, where the villagers are getting self-employment, their economic condition is also getting strengthened.
