Raipur, 23 February 2022. Half Electricity Bill Scheme of Chhattisgarh Government Lakhs of domestic electricity consumers of the state are getting the benefit of 50 percent discount in electricity bill. By implementing this scheme, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has not only brought relief to lakhs of domestic electricity consumers in the era of inflation, but has also fulfilled a big promise made to the public. People in every village, every city of Chhattisgarh are getting direct benefits of this scheme. The electricity bill which used to come from 1000 to 1200 rupees for the first 1 month, that bill is now coming up to 500 to 600 rupees for the same electricity consumption. Due to this, people’s expenditure on electricity has come down and they are using the savings amount to meet their other needs.
Under the Half Electricity Bill scheme implemented by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel from March 1, 2019, electricity consumers are getting 50 percent rebate on electricity consumption up to 400 units. To take advantage of this scheme, it is necessary that no electricity bills are pending for the consumers, they have paid their old electricity bills. 40 lakh domestic electricity consumers of the state have got a huge discount of Rs 2145 crore in their electricity bill due to the Half Electricity Bill scheme. Affordable electricity has improved the household budget of poor and middle class people. While household savings have been encouraged through this scheme, it has also ensured that people pay their electricity bills regularly. Those who do not deposit the bill amount will be deprived of taking advantage of the scheme.
For the implementation of the scheme, the software of spot billing machine, which is being used for giving electricity bills to consumers by reading meter in homes, has been updated as per the half electricity bill scheme. The machine automatically generates electricity bill with 50% discount for every power consumption up to 400 units. In addition to the Half Electricity Bill Scheme, 30 units of electricity is being given free of cost every month to the families living below the poverty line under the Single Light Connection Scheme. About 18 lakh electricity consumers are getting the benefit of this scheme. In the last three years, 2 lakh household electricity consumers have increased in the state.
Domestic electricity consumers thank the Chief Minister for the decision to implement this scheme. Mr. Anil Chaudhary of Mahasamund while thanking Chief Minister Mr. Baghel for implementing this scheme says that earlier the electricity bill which used to come from 1000 to 1200 rupees has reduced to 500 to 700 rupees. The electricity consumer of Mahasamund, Mr. Chaman Chandrakar, tells that he is getting the benefit of the electricity bill half scheme, which has given him financial relief. Expressing gratitude to the government for Raipur’s Seenu scheme, she says that the exemption from the scheme has brought relief. Shri Rakesh Sahu of Raipur also does not tire of thanking the state government.
