Raipur, 05 September 2021. On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, the teachers were honored at the State Level Teacher Award Ceremony organized in the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan under the chief hospitality of Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel presided over the function. School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Dwarkadhish Yadav were present in the function.
The Governor bowed to former President and great teacher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and said that teachers are like lamps, who bring the light of knowledge in the darkness of ignorance. They play an important role in the progress of the country and the state. With the guidance of teachers, students become partners in nation building by earning success in different fields. He said that if the guidance given by the teachers is accepted positively, success is definitely achieved.
Ms. Uike said that the place where I, the Chief Minister, the Education Minister or other politicians have reached, the contribution of our teachers has been there. Due to the teachings of the discipline of the teachers, we have reached where we are today. Governor said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, many works have been done in the field of education like starting Swami Atmanand English Medium School, which is commendable. With this work, the villagers are getting the facility of English medium schools up to the block level. For this, I congratulate the entire education department including the Chief Minister. The Governor also praised the work done by the Education Department during the Corona period.
The Governor said that a motto of Indian culture is ‘Asato Ma Sadgamaya, Tamso Ma Jyotrigamay, Mrityormamritam Gamay’, which means ‘O God, lead us from untruth to truth, from darkness to light and from death to immortality’. The role of teachers is important in the process of moving from untruth to truth and from darkness to light. Couplets like ‘Acharya: Devo Bhava’ and ‘Guru Govind Dou Khade’ show the importance of the teacher in our rich traditions.
The Governor said that children are the future of our country, their originality, imagination, are a priceless asset for the country and the important responsibility of shaping their lives lies with the teachers. Teachers should treat students as friends and guides. Swami Vivekananda said that ‘we need such education by which character is formed, peace of mind increases, intelligence is developed and man can stand on his own feet’.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel extended his greetings and best wishes on Teacher’s Day and said that the birthday of former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishna is celebrated as Teacher’s Day. He was a great teacher. When he became the President, some students proposed to celebrate his birthday. Then he said that my birthday should be celebrated as Teacher’s Day. He said that there is always a need for gurus whether in the field of sports or in the field of education. Teachers play an important role in nation building. Its importance increased even more during the Corona epidemic. The Education Department provided education through mediums like online education system, Bultu Ke Bol, Mohalla Class at the time of Corona epidemic, which was discussed all over the country and abroad.
Shri Baghel said that teachers were appointed by the Panchayat Department in Madhya Pradesh in the year 1998, since then no regular teachers were appointed. But understanding their plight, we recruited teachers regularly and started the recruitment process. We established Swami Atmanand English Vidyalaya to provide excellent education. In this, poor and middle class parents are providing free education to their children. This is an important step towards providing quality education. The role model of any student is his teacher. Students follow the way they behave. That’s why good teachers are needed to make good students. Paying tribute to the teachers who died during the Corona period, the Chief Minister said that our teachers played an important role during the Corona period and helped the students.
School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam said that during the Corona period, many innovations were made by the Education Department in the state to provide education to the children, including Padhai Tuhar Dwar, Mohalla Class etc. These efforts of the administration were appreciated all over the country including NITI Aayog. The Prime Minister also mentioned these innovations in ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
In the program, 58 teachers selected in the year 2020 were honored, in which 54 teachers were given State Teacher Award and 04 teachers were given memory award in the name of great litterateurs of the state. On this occasion the names of selected teachers for the State Level Award for the year 2021 were announced. On this occasion, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Dr. Alok Shukla delivered the welcome address. The Secretary to the Governor Shri Amrit Kumar Khalkho, Legal Advisor Shri R.K. Agrawal, Secretary School Education Dr. Kamalpreet Singh were present. At the ceremony, J.R. Students of Dani School presented Saraswati Vandana and State Song.
