Raipur, 1 August 2021. Chhattisgarh has recorded GST collection of Rs 2,432 crore in July 2021, which is 33 percent more than the corresponding period of the year 2020. In July 2020, the state had GST collection of Rs 1832 crore. Growth in GST collection in Chhattisgarh is about 32 percent more than the growth in total GST collection at national-level.
According to the latest data released by Central Government, the growth in GST collection of Chhattisgarh is better than many states.
Madhya Pradesh has recorded 16% increase in the GST collection, Karnataka 12% Uttar Pradesh 18% , Bihar 21%, Punjab 29%, Uttarakhand 12%, Rajashthan 12%. The growth percentage in Chhattisgarh is higher than West Bengal’s 15 percent, Kerala’s 27 percent, Andhra Pradesh’s 28 percent.
It is noteworthy that the pace of economic activities in Chhattisgarh has been maintained, despite the challenges due to COVID-crises. Despite the lockdown, works in the agriculture and forest sectors were continued uninterrupted. Meanwhile, farmers were provided financial support under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. Last year, about 19 lakh farmers of the state were benefitted under the scheme, while this year 22 lakh farmers received the financial support under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. These farmers had set a record of profuse production of paddy during the last season. This year as well, grant of Rs 1500 crore have been transferred into the bank accounts of farmers as the first installment . State Government has expanded the scope of the scheme in the current season to include more farmers. Chhattisgarh is also leading in the entire country in the matter of forest produce collection. Besides Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Scheme, value addition to forest produce and livelihood activities conducted in Gauthans have created employment in the rural areas of the state at a larger scale. A large number of farmers, livestock owners and members of self-help groups have also been benefited from the procurement of cow dung at the rate of Rs 2 per kg as well as manufacture and sale of organic manure.
