The Governor said that on this important occasion, I salute both the great men. Chhattisgarh has been the land of saints, the main saint among them was Baba Gurughasidas ji. He was born on 18 December 1756 in a normal family in Girudpuri village in Balodabazar district. He gave seven divine messages, in which there was a major message that as per Satnam, truth is God, God is truth. Baba Ghasidas Ji described all living beings as equal and gave inspiration to have a high view of simple life. They attacked the caste system and other social evils.
He said that December 10 was the death anniversary of the great fighter martyr Veer Narayan Singh of Chhattisgarh. He was born in a Banjhwar tribal family of Sonakhan village of Balodabazar. He requested a businessman to give food to the poor people in the event of a severe drought, but on his refusal, he removed the grain from his warehouse and got the poor people to get it. His work was considered a crime by the British and he was jailed. Later he escaped from prison and formed his own army and rebelled against the British. After some time, his army lost the war and was put on trial and Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh was hanged. Today, Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh is not among us but his memories and his life inspire us.
Deputy Secretary to the Governor, Smt. Roktima Yadav and Comptroller Mr. Harbansh Miri were present on the occasion.
