Governor Mr. Vishwabhushan Harichandan today reached Basankuda, a tribal-dominated village in Mahasamund district, and met the villagers there and inquired about the basic facilities being provided to them by the administration, their economic condition etc. He said that many schemes are being run by the Center and the State Government for the poor, deprived sections and the people of the last end of the society, the benefits of which must be taken by the villagers.
Governor Mr. Harichandan met Kamar tribe families, women of self-help groups and villagers in a program organized at Basankuda village and visited the stalls set up by women self-help groups in the morning. The women gave information about bamboo, chind baskets, decoration materials, clay art, terracotta art materials and food items etc. produced by them. He said that the collector and other officers of the district should ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach the people. If there is any problem, then tell the collector and if there is a bigger problem, then you can also tell me. He interacted with some of the women with intimacy in Hindi and Odia languages. Women presented baskets made of bamboo to the Governor.
The Governor said that Mahasamund district is a border district of Chhattisgarh and Odisha. The residents of both the states are brothers. The culture of India is unique. All cultures meet here. That’s why India is called Vishwa Guru.
On this occasion, Shri Amrit Khalkho, Secretary to the Governor also gave his address. He said that for the first time the Governor has come to meet the residents of the tribal area directly and see the implementation of the schemes.
In the programme, the Governor distributed urad seed mini kit, battery sprayer, nutrition kit to pregnant women and material to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, tricycle to the differently-abled to the farmers of Kamar tribe. The Governor also planted trees in the campus.
On this occasion, Deputy Secretary to the Governor Mr. Deepak Agarwal, Mahasamund Collector Mr. Nilesh Kumar Kshirsagar, Superintendent of Police and other senior officers, Sarpanch and other public representatives and villagers of the area were present in large numbers.
