Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel attends NDTV’s ‘Banega Swasth India’ program. 

 Raipur, 2 October 2020. The Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, from his residence office today joined the ‘Banega Swasth India’ live program organized online by NDTV on the occasion of 151st birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The Chief Minister said that the Government of Chhattisgarh is continuously working towards cleanliness, health, fight against malnutrition and environmental protection through the Suraksha Abhiyan, Haat-Bazar Clinic Scheme, Suraji Village Scheme and Large Plantation Program. Many celebrities like actor Amitabh Bachchan, actress Bhumi Pednekar social activist Megha Patkar attended this program.

    Chief Minister Mr. Baghel while answering the question asked about Choron infection in Chhattisgarh said that the state of Chhattisgarh is surrounded by seven states. Despite this, the state of corona infection in the state is completely controlled. Giving information about the precautionary measures taken for the prevention of corona infection in the state, the Chief Minister said that we sealed the borders of the state in the initial phase of the infection, so that no outsiders could come. At present, the number of corona infected patients has increased in the state due to the removal of lockdown and movement of traffic. The Chief Minister said that despite this, the situation is under control. Will definitely win the Battle of Corona in the coming time.

        Chief Minister Mr. Baghel further said that we are not in favor of lockdown again. Home isolation is being encouraged by the state government to ensure better arrangements for treatment of people infected with corona. The state government is distributing medicines door-to-door and teams of doctors and specialists are continuously providing medical consultation to patients through call centers in each district.

   Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel while discussing the subject of cleanliness, health and environment said that all three are important subjects and they also have mutual relation with each other. He further explained that as far as cleanliness is concerned, there are 10,000 women self-help groups in the state, who are continuously working in this direction, As a result, the state of Chhattisgarh has ranked second in the country in terms of maximum ODF plus villages in the cleanliness survey. The Chief Minister said that 16 thousand tonnes of waste is disposed of in the state. ‘Swachh Diksha’ program has also been started in the state under which representatives of many states have come here and received training. Along with this, representatives of Nepal and Bhutan have also seen and learned about this cleanliness drive of the state. Women are constantly working here to make the state clean. E-rickshaws are being used to transport waste here. Due to which the amount of fuel consumption is being saved. Thousands of ‘Swachhta Didis’ are also benefiting from this cleanliness drive. Now their honorarium has been increased from Rs 5 thousand to Rs 6 thousand. Thousands of ‘Swachhta Didis’ are also benefiting. Now their honorarium has been increased from Rs 5 thousand to Rs 6 thousand. Thousands of ‘Swachhta Didis’ are also benefiting. Now their honorarium has been increased from Rs 5 thousand to Rs 6 thousand.

   Under the ambitious scheme of the state government, Narva, Garuva, Ghuruva and Bari are now being collected by purchasing cow dung. Under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana started from Hareli Tihar, 11 lakh quintals of cow dung have been purchased in two months and an amount of about 20 crores has been paid. While on one hand sanitation has been encouraged by the Godhan Nyaya Yojana, on the other hand the income of the people is also increasing. This scheme has proved very beneficial for the landless laborers. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that this scheme is the first such scheme in the country as well as in the whole world. In which the state government is purchasing cow dung. With this, the income of cattle rearers is also increasing along with making the environment clean.

   Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that 44 percent of the land area in Chhattisgarh is forested which is 17 percent of the forest cover in the entire country. He said that in other words it can be said that Chhattisgarh has 17 percent contribution in giving oxygen to the country. This year, we have decided that the plantation program will now give priority to the planting of fruitful trees, so that our tribal community living in Vananchal will get employment in the future and their income should also increase. 

    Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that 37.7 percent children in the state are malnourished. To make Chhattisgarh a malnutrition-free state, Chief Minister Suchitan Abhiyan was launched on October 2 last year. I am happy to state that 68,000 out of 5 lakh malnourished children of the state have been freed from malnutrition in one year. Which is about 13 percent. Similarly, under the Chief Minister’s Haat-Bazar Yojana Clinic, medical teams are going to each Haat-Bazar to provide services in the forest areas. Before this period of corona crisis, 26 thousand medical camps were organized under this scheme, which benefited about 8 lakh people. In this way, the state government is working relentlessly towards the fight against cleanliness, health, malnutrition and environmental protection.
