Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has said that continuous efforts are being made to create a good environment for sports in the state. New sports academies are starting. World class training is being given to enhance the playing skills of the players. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel expressed views to this effect at the felicitation ceremony of the sportspersons organized at his residence today on International Olympic Day. He honored the sportspersons of the state who won medals in the 36th National Games held in Gujarat at the function. Players, coaches and team managers participating in these games were also honored in the programme. Chairman of Chhattisgarh Housing Board Mr. Kuldeep Juneja, General Secretary of Chhattisgarh Olympic Association Mr. Devendra Yadav, former Mayor of Raipur Municipal Corporation Mr. Gajraj Pagaria and office bearers of Chhattisgarh Olympic Association were also present in the function.
Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said that through sports where players get recognition at the national and international level, we all also feel proud. Apart from representing Chhattisgarh, all of you have also made us proud. I congratulate all the participating players as well as the players who won medals for the state in the 36th National Games held in Gujarat. The Chief Minister felicitated 64 players who won medals in individual and team events, 89 other players participating in various sports and 38 coaches-managers.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that a good environment is being created for the development of sports and encouragement of sportspersons in the state. Success in any field requires organized effort and a conducive environment. Presently 21 academies are running in the state, including two residential academies. Their number should be increased. The Chief Minister said that there is no dearth of talent in the state. When the children of Narayanpur can make their mark at the national and international level in Malkhamb, then nothing is impossible. Players from Chhattisgarh have been continuously participating in the Asian Games, Olympics, Commonwealth and National Games.
Chhattisgarh Olympic Association General Secretary Mr. Devendra Yadav said in the program that the players of the state have a lot of talent and energy. The players here have been continuously showing their mettle in the national competitions. To groom the sports talents of the state, we have to create good infrastructure in an organized manner. At the age of 14-15, players will have to be identified and their skills will have to be sharpened systematically. The sports facilities available in all the divisional headquarters of the state will also have to be extended to the children of remote areas. Mr. Yadav said that the Chief Minister has announced a total award of Rs 16 lakh 35 thousand for the medal winning players, participating players and coaches of the 36th National Games.
