Raipur, 04 October 2021.To implement Godhan Nyay Yojana in Chhattisgarh on mission mode, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has given instructions to constitute ‘Godhan Nyay Mission’. Agriculture Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey will be the President and Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Pradeep Sharma will be the Vice President of the mission.
Godhan Nyay Yojana is being implemented from year 2020 to promote animal husbandry and organic farming in the state. Under this scheme, cow dung is procured at the rate of Rs 2/kg from the cattle owners and farmers. Cow dung so procured is them utilized by women self-help groups to prepare organic manure in the Gauthans established under Suraji Gaon Yojana. So far more than 50 lakh quintals of cow dung has been procured. Besides the production of compost, vermi compost, super compost and the manufacturing of many other items from cow dung, State Government has now made arrangements for electricity generation from dung procured. Recently, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has launched the project of power generation from cow dung. In the first phase, electricity production has been started in three Gauthans of Raipur, Durg and Bemetara districts. Mr. Baghel has directed the officials concerned to implement this project in all the Gauthans of the state. So far more than 10 thousand Gauthans have been approved in the state. Out of these, more than 6 thousand Gauthans have already been built and made operational. The entire system is being managed locally.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has said that to provide maximum benefits of the scheme to the dung vendors and collectors, it is important to operate the scheme with a commercial and scientific approach. Hence, the implementation of this scheme should be done on a mission mode, for which services of scientists, organizations having management and marketing expertise, NGOs, consultants of companies etc. should be taken.
Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamalpreet Singh and Secretary Finance Mrs. Alarmelmangai D. will be the members for Godhan Nyay Mission. Special Secretary Agriculture Dr. S. Bharathidasan will be the Managing Director of the Mission while Deputy Secretary Agriculture will be the Additional Managing Director. Experts from Indira Gandhi Agricultural University and two other experienced representatives and experts will be nominated as members of the mission by the President of Godhan Nyay Mission.
