Rani Durgavati women SHG flourishes in vermicompost production, generates an income of Rs 5 lakh
Raipur, 09 June 2023, The Chhattisgarh Government’s ambitious Godhan NYAY Yojana is proving to be instrumental in bringing about positive changes in lives of rural population and fostering self-reliance. This scheme has successfully brought prosperity to rural communities by providing them with an additional source of income and creating employment opportunities, especially for local women.
Regular cow dung procurement is being conducted at Gauthan in Bhendri village of Gariyaband district under the Godhan NYAY Yojana. The 15-membered Rani Durgavati Women Self-Help Group, associated with the Gauthan, is actively involved in vermicompost production using the thus procured cow dung. The group has sold nearly 1,252 quintals of vermicompost, generating an income of about Rs 5 lakh thus far.
The group members have stated that the establishment of Gauthan has provided them with employment opportunities and an additional source of income in their village itself. They have also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Chhattisgarh Government for the commencement of this ambitious scheme. They have mentioned that schemes including ‘Narva, Garuwa, Ghurwa, Badi’ and ‘Godhan NYAY Yojana’, have proved to be highly beneficial for rural communities and played a vital role in improving livelihoods for people residing in villages. The operation of various livelihood-based activities in Gauthans has created new employment opportunities for the local population.
