‘Exclusive showroom’ opened in Ambikapur for the sale of products made from cow dung

Adopting a new business idea, the women of Ambikapur have started an exclusive showroom in Ambikapur for the sale of cow dung products. It has been named as Godhan Emporium. In this emporium, vermi compost as well as paint made from cow wood, incense sticks, kanda and cow dung are being sold. This emporium is successfully running for the last three years at the main square of Ambikapur city. The responsibility of running this emporium is in the hands of women. The women working in the Godhan Emporium have so far earned an income of more than 12 lakhs.
In this unique emporium, which looks like a small shopping mall, people of Ambikapur city buy cow wood, incense sticks for worship, havan etc. Similarly, in Chhattisgarh, lovers of litti-chokha prepare litti-chokha by purchasing cow dung cakes from here. Vermi compost is being used by the people of urban areas for house pots as well as for other gardening works. Cow dung paint is also being sold here due to its ability to withstand temperature. The popularity of this emporium is increasing day by day. At present, 40 to 60 customers come and go here every day. Given the popularity of cow dung products, there is a possibility of further increase in sales here.
So far, a total income of Rs 12 lakh 49 thousand has been earned from Godhan Emporium in three years. 4 lakh 50 thousand in the year 2020-21, 4 lakh 87 thousand in the year 2021-22 and 3 lakh 12 thousand in the year 2022-23. The women members working here told that every month the women of the group are earning about 40 thousand rupees from the emporium. Here two female members of the Gothan women’s group are stationed alternately. Like other shops, there is a holiday in Emporium once a week on Tuesday.
This emporium is a part of Ambikapur Urban Gouthan. It is run by the women group associated with Gothan, the women of the group are members of Ambikapur City Level Federation, this federation is working for cleanliness in Ambikapur city. Now a unit for making paint from cow dung and preparing two plates has also been started here. Members of Gauthan groups get 6 to 7 thousand rupees every month as dividend.
Mrs. Shashikala Sinha, President of Ambikapur City Level Federation, says that it is a wonderful experience for us that till now we had heard about the showroom of grains, clothes and other items but did not think that we would see modern furnishings in the main square of Ambikapur city. Will run such a decorated shop, where products made of cow dung will be sold.
