Raipur, 28 May 2023.The Godhan NYAY Yojana is emerging as a path of progress for the livestock farmers, women, and farmers of the state. Local women are securing employment through livelihood-oriented activities in Gauthans, which has led to an improvement in their living standards. Their contribution to fulfilling the needs of their family, including their own, has also increased. This has strengthened their confidence and self-esteem.
The women of Maa Mamta Self-Help Group are engaged in the activity of manufacturing Vermicompost from cow dung in the Ranatola Gauthan of the district’s Mohla development block. The women’s group has earned a profit of Rs. 2 lakh from the sale of Vermicompost and Supercompost. The President of Maa Mamta Self-Help Group, Mrs. Taramati, said that they were earlier employed in farming and manual labour in the village. After Gauthan was established in their village, they began manufacturing Vermicompost from cow dung. She said that the women of the self-help groups have prepared 973.30 quintals of Vermicompost so far, out of which 959 quintals of manure have sold. Taramati added that earthworms are also being produced and sold in Gauthans. Taramati has purchased silver anklets and waist girdles for herself with the money earned by selling manure.
Other women associated with the group said they actively fulfill their families’ financial needs by selling Vermicompost. Some have purchased mobile phones, while others have provided for the education of their children
