Raipur, 14 October 2020. Under the state government’s ambitious ‘Narva Vikas Yojana’, the days of ground water conservation works in Banjari Nala will now be spoiled for the waste land of Vananchal. Construction of one thousand 820 water conservation related structures has been started in Banjari Nala under Campa item in a program organized by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel recently under the chairmanship of Forest Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar. With this, farmers of six villages of Vananchal will now have irrigation facility in about 100 hectare area. An amount of about 74 lakh rupees is approved for its construction.
The Chief Executive Officer of Campa, Shri V.V. Srinivasa Rao told that six villages of Vananchal, Jawahar Nagar, Bhalupali, Malda B, Baradavan, Korrapani and Chinchhapali will be benefited by the construction of water conservation related structures in this Banjari Nala located in Barmkela, block of Raigad forest division. With the construction of all the water conservation structures sanctioned here, the ground water level of the said six villages will now increase in Banjari Nala and more than one crop can also be taken in the barren-weed land of the villages situated on the Nala side in Vananchal. This Banjari Nala is spread over an area of 16.6 km in Vananchal. Its total water storage area is 2,877 hectares.
In this regard, Forest Officer, Raigarh Mr. Manoj Pandey informed that under the Campa item, a total of one thousand 820 water conservation related structures will be constructed in Banjari Nala under the works sanctioned in the year 2020-21. These will include construction of 125 brushwood check dams, 492 pieces of boulder check dams and 22 pieces of gabion. Apart from this, construction of one thousand 180 Nos. Contour Bund and one Nos. Ardan Dame are included. During their construction in Banjari Nala, employment of 21 thousand 600 man days will be created in the surrounding villages. Also, the construction of these ground water structures will increase the ground water level in the vicinity. Apart from this, drinking water and irrigation facilities in the surrounding villages will help in preventing soil erosion.
