Recalling the invaluable contribution of Rajiv Gandhi in the making of modern India, Shri Baghel said that Rajiv ji played an important role in strengthening the foundation of the country by giving more authority to the Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies for the purpose of decentralization of power. . For transparency in government work, he laid the foundation of computer and information revolution in the country, through which easy access of government schemes to the common man was ensured through e-governance. He gave the youth the right to vote at the age of 18 to ensure youth participation in the democratic process.
The Chief Minister said that we have adopted Rajiv Gandhi’s vision of poverty alleviation and building a self-reliant India in Chhattisgarh. Shri Rajiv Gandhi believed that the new construction of India is not possible without improving the economic condition of farmers and villagers. Following the path shown by him, the state government has started many welfare programs and schemes for all sections of the people including the poor, farmers, tribals. ‘Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana’ has been started to provide the farmers a fair price for their produce. The government has expanded the scope of this scheme from Kharif season 2021 to include paddy as well as other Kharif crops. Along with this, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhoomiless Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana is being started to provide financial help to the landless agricultural laborers of rural areas of the state. Under this scheme, 6000 rupees will be given annually to such families of rural areas, Those who do not have agricultural land and are associated with MNREGA or agricultural wages. For the betterment of the farmers, the state government has also taken many important steps like loan waiver, irrigation tax waiver. For the decentralization of power, many districts and tehsils have been created.
In order to strengthen the economy of the villages and to provide employment to the villagers in the village itself, the state government has started the Suraji Gaon Yojana. Livestock promotion as well as employment oriented activities have been started in Gauthans in villages. Women groups are being made self-reliant by connecting them with these employment oriented activities. In these Gauthans, ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana’ is being operated for the purchase of cow dung. For the first time in the country, cow dung is being purchased for Rs.2 a kg. Not only this, welfare schemes like ‘Tendupatta collector social security scheme’, arrangement for purchase of minor forest produce collected by forest dwellers, distribution of individual and community forest rights papers have been started. Shri Baghel said that fulfilling the dream of inclusive development that Rajiv ji had dreamed of in India, would be the true tribute of all of us to Rajiv ji.
