Chief Minister pays tribute to Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has paid tribute to the former Prime Minister of the country, Bharat Ratna Shri Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary on August 20. Remembering Shri Rajiv Gandhi, Shri Baghel has said that Rajiv ji was the visionary of modern India, he laid the foundation of modern India of 21st century with his works.
The Chief Minister said that Shri Rajiv Gandhi took over the reins of the country as the youngest Prime Minister of India. He did important work of empowering Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies in the country. Rajiv ji laid the foundation of computer and information revolution in the country, through which transparency in government work and easy access of government schemes to the common man through e-governance was ensured. He gave the youth the right to vote at the age of 18 to ensure youth participation in the democratic process.
The Chief Minister said that lateRajiv Gandhi had the vision that achieving the goal of eradicating poverty in India and building a self-reliant India is not possible without improving the economic condition of the farmers. Following the path shown by him, the state government has started many welfare programs and schemes for all sections of the people including the poor, farmers, tribals. ‘Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana’ has been started to provide the farmers a fair price for their produce. Through this scheme, till now an amount of 12 thousand 920 crore rupees has been deposited directly in their account to the farmers of the state. Along with this, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiless Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana has been started to provide financial help to the landless agricultural laborers of rural areas of the state. Under this scheme, Rs 7000 is being given annually to such families of rural areas, who do not have agricultural land and they can do MNREGA, Agriculture is associated with wages or money-spreaders. For the betterment of the farmers, year after year, the state government has taken steps like purchase of paddy on support price, loan waiver, waiver of irrigation tax etc.
The state government is paying special attention to strengthen the economy of the villages. Suraji Gaon Yojana has been started to provide employment to the villagers in the village itself. Livestock promotion as well as employment oriented activities have been started in Gauthans in villages. ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana’ is being operated for the purchase of cow dung in these Gauthans. Under this, so far Rs 330 crore has been given to women groups, farmers. For the first time in the world, cow dung is being purchased for two rupees per kg. Not only this, welfare schemes like ‘Tendupatta collector social security scheme’, arrangement for purchase of minor forest produce collected by forest dwellers, distribution of individual and community forest rights papers have been started. Shri Baghel said that fulfilling Rajiv ji’s dream of inclusive development would be our true tribute to Rajiv ji.
