Chief Minister salutes late Shri Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has paid tribute to the country’s former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary on August 20. Remembering Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, Mr. Baghel has said that Rajiv ji laid the foundation of modern India of the 21st century. The credit goes to Rajiv ji for bringing computer revolution and information revolution in the country. Transparency came in the government work through computer and access of government schemes to common people was ensured through e-governance. In fact, Rajiv ji was a visionary of modern India.

The Chief Minister said that Shri Rajiv Gandhi took over the reins of the country as the youngest Prime Minister of India. He gave the youth the right to vote in 18 years to ensure the participation of the youth in the democratic process of the country. He also did the important work of empowering the three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies in the country. Youth in rural and urban areas are being connected with creative cultural activities, sports etc. by the state government through “Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club”.

The Chief Minister said that it was the vision of late Rajiv Gandhi that achieving the goal of ‘eradicating poverty in India and building a self-reliant India’ is not possible without improving the economic condition of the farmers. Following the path shown by him, the state government has started many welfare programs and schemes for all sections of people including the poor, farmers, tribals. ‘Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana’ has been started to provide fair price to the farmers for their produce. Through this scheme, more than 24 lakh farmers of the state have been given Rs 20,103 crore as input subsidy. Along with this, “Rajiv Gandhi Landless Agricultural Labor Justice Scheme” has been started to provide financial help to the landless agricultural laborers of the rural areas of the state. Under this scheme, 7000 rupees are being given per year to such families of rural areas, who do not have agricultural land and they are under MNREGA, Are associated with agricultural labor or pauni-pasari. The state government has taken steps like purchase of paddy at support price, loan waiver, waiver of irrigation tax year after year for the betterment of the farmers.

Mr. Baghel said that the state government is moving towards fulfilling the dream of inclusive development of Rajiv ji. The real tribute to Rajiv ji will be the real effort to fulfill the dream of India’s progress.
