The Secretary of the Tribal and Scheduled Castes Development Department, Mr. D.D. Singh has said that at least one Community Forest Resource Rights Letter should be given to each Forest Rights Committee constituted in the state. The benefits of all the schemes should be given to the forest rights holders of special backward weaker tribes. Forest rights beneficiaries should be given priority in approved works and other ancillary works under MNREGA. Shri Singh was addressing a review meeting of Assistant Commissioners and Project Administrators of Surguja Division at Tribal Research and Training Institute here today. 
    Mr. D.D. Singh said that special attention should be paid to government’s priority schemes, Forest Rights Recognition Letter, Devguri Development, Hostel-Ashram, Eklavya and Prayas residential schools and sports complex run by the department. Complete the work of Devguri construction, repair and upgradation of hostels and ashrams on priority. He said that a list should be prepared by selecting eligible beneficiaries of forest rights to be distributed on World Tribal Day, August 9. The construction works in the hostels-ashrams should be completed before the commencement of the session. The Assistant Commissioner and Project Administrator should visit the site to check the quality of the construction works. He said that cleanliness, drinking water, Pay special attention to electricity and other basic facilities. Develop hostels-ashrams in ideal form. In the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Adarsh ​​Gram Yojana, prepare an action plan for the development of selected villages by conducting a survey.

    It was told in the meeting that till May 2023, 1,20,529 individual forest rights letters have been distributed on 68367.539 hectares of land in Surguja division, in which maximum 29516 individual forest rights letters have been distributed in Surajpur district. Similarly, 11139 forest rights letters of community forest rights and 1329 forest rights letters of community forest resource rights have been distributed. In Surguja division, 9977 individual forest rights, 633 community forest rights and 54 community forest resource rights have been distributed in total 800 villages of special backward vulnerable tribes. Similarly, while taking action on the applications received in urban areas, till May 2023, 33 letters of individual forest rights and 4 letters of community forest rights have been distributed.
