Raipur: Forest Rights Claims Now Online: Pilot Project Started in Dhamtari and Korba Districts

Raipur, 27 July 2021. Claims for distribution of forest rights letter, the ambitious scheme of Chhattisgarh government, can now be filed online as well. As a pilot project, the process of filing claims by the beneficiaries is being started by developing an online portal related to forest rights recognition letter as a pilot project in two development blocks of Dhamtari and Korba districts of the state. Under this, the process of filing online claims of Forest Rights Recognition Letter is being started in the development block city of Dhamtari district from July 27 to July 29 and in Podi-Uporda development block of Korba district from August 2 to August 4.
Tribal and Scheduled Castes Development Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam while expressing happiness over the commencement of the pilot project said that it will free the beneficiaries from the complicated paperwork. Along with this, the beneficiaries will be able to get the complete release of the action taken on their application online. He said that after getting the encouraging results of the scheme, it is intended to be started in other districts soon. Departmental Secretary Shri D.D. Singh and Commissioner Smt. Shammi Abidi are personally monitoring this scheme and necessary instructions have also been given by them to the planning in-charges of the district concerned.
Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam said that Chhattisgarh is one of the leading states of the country in distribution of forest rights recognition letters. Out of the total 8 lakh 37 thousand 562 applications received for individual claims of forest rights till December 31, 2020, 4 lakh 36 thousand 619 forest rights recognition letters have been distributed in the state. Apart from this, 44 thousand 938 forest rights recognition letters have been distributed out of 50 thousand 564 applications received for community forest rights. He said that along with this, action is being taken to get forest rights letters to all the eligible beneficiaries after reviewing and reviewing all the canceled claims. In this phase, an online portal has been prepared by the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Development Department regarding the Forest Rights Recognition Letter.
It is noteworthy that in the past, claims of forest rights recognition letter have been filed by the beneficiaries under this scheme under the paper process, due to which practical problems have emerged in the implementation of the procedure. In order to solve these problems and to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, UNDP has been organized by the Tribal and Scheduled Castes Development Department. Web based MIS portal has been developed with the technical support of Through this, the process of filing claim can be completed through online medium and information about the action taken on the claims filled by the applicant will be available to the claimant through the online portal. Along with this, the status of district wise forest rights recognition letter claims will also be available to everyone on the portal.
