In Chhattisgarh, during the rainy season in the current year 2023, the work of planting and distribution of 02 crore 91 lakh 20 thousand saplings will be done on a large scale for the spread of greenery and forest promotion. According to the intention of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the work of planting maximum number of fruit trees has been included on priority under the said large tree plantation. For its successful implementation, preparations have been started by the department under the guidance of Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar.
In this regard, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri V. Srinivasa Rao said that under the departmental plan, 7065 hectares and 20 km. 64 lakh 64 thousand saplings, 70 hectare and 60 km under MNREGA. State will be covered with greenery by planting 90 thousand 800 saplings, 22 lakh 27 thousand saplings in 4016 hectare under Campa and 2 lakh saplings in 80 hectare under other schemes.

On the guidelines of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and Forest and Climate Change Department Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar, taking a unique initiative by the department, the Chief Minister’s Tree Estate Scheme has been started from this year. The main objective of this scheme is to ensure plantation of trees of commercial species on the private land of farmers/other beneficiaries, in case of participation of cooperative institutions, private companies, buy back trees of the said species, determining the minimum purchase price per year for the selected species. To increase their income, to promote wood and plywood based industries, to increase the revenue of the government in the form of additional tax, to create employment, to reduce the financial burden of the government with the help of cooperative organizations in tree plantation work.
Under the Mukhyamantri Vriksha Sampada Yojana, a total of 2 crore 13 lakh 32 thousand 300 saplings will be planted on private lands of 21 thousand 640 farmers in 33800 acres, out of which 2 lakh 84 clonal bamboos in 662 hectare area and 2 lakh clonal bamboos in 663 hectare area in the state.
