Food and Culture Minister Amarjit Bhagat reviewed the paddy procurement system in the division-level review meeting held in the District Panchayat meeting hall of Ambikapur today. He has so far procured paddy in the districts of the division of Surguja division, availability of gunny bags, land amendment, lifting of paddy, PDS. Review of operation, construction and capacity of ware house, illegal paddy transportation, registration of farmers holding forest rights etc., etc. Mr. Bhagat instructed the officials of the Food Department to make a new ration card, and add names to the ration card. Minister Shri Bhagat said that procurement of paddy on support price is the highest priority of the government. Give full flexibility to farmers to sell paddy in procurement centers. He said that for proper arrangement of gunny bags, the Managing Director of Markfed has been written and instructed to arrange gunny bags in Surguja. Food officers of all the districts of the division should join the WHAT group and call for the district in which additional gunny information is available. Get the paddy picked up quickly by the millers from the procurement centers. Complete the contract for the mills who have remaining contracts. He said that tarpaulin should be maintained in the procurement centers to protect the paddy from rain water. It was informed at the meeting that so far 55 percent paddy has been procured in Surguja division. Out of one lakh 61 thousand 661 farmers registered in the division, so far 90 thousand 232 farmers have sold paddy. Minister Shri Bhagat said that for proper paddy procurement in procurement centers, the state government releases funds ranging from Madwar paddy weighing to gunny stitching. He instructed to make a new ration card and to set up a special camp after the completion of paddy purchase to add or delete the missing names of any family member in the card or to make another ration card.
