Raipur: Food irradiation plant will be set up in government area in Chhattisgarh

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has given in-principle consent for the establishment of Food Irradiation Park (irradiation of food items) in the government sector in the state. The Chief Minister directed that at least five types of income-oriented activities should be started compulsorily in all the Gauthans, so that the income of the women group associated with the Gauthans can be increased. He directed that the work of processing and value addition of minor forest produce should be started on priority in the Gauthans of Vananchal area. The Chief Minister said that the farmers of the state have used vermicompost and super compost produced in the Gauthans of the state in their fields. It has yielded very encouraging results. Farmers say that vermi compost has increased the fertility of the land and the soil condition of the fields has improved. To promote the use of Vermi Compost and Super Compost, the Chief Minister directed to give wide publicity to it and encourage the farmers.
