Raipur: Fisheries prove to be a better source of income

Raipur, 24 December 2020. The Government of Chhattisgarh is providing all necessary assistance to fishermen to promote fisheries in the state. Fisheries are being provided with high-tech training and guidance of fisheries, fish seeds and equipment and materials for fisheries. Mr. Podiaram Tati of village Tikanpal of Kuakonda development block in Dantewada district has started fisheries work with the help of fisheries department of the state government. They are making good profit from it.
Shri Podiyaram used to work as a laborer in the village for his livelihood along with farming. His interest was in fisheries. Seeing his interest, the Fisheries Department sent farmer Podiyaram on a study tour for direct experience of the excellent techniques being adopted outside the state for ten-day departmental fishery training. After a study tour, with the help of fisheries department, he started fish farming by constructing a pond on one hectare for fisheries in his own land. Farmers are being advised to take up fisheries under advanced technology and departmental guidance by providing benefits of fish seed, supplementary food, nets, ice box, shrimp seed, cefax etc. from departmental scheme.
Presently, the farmer is producing fish from Podiyaram along with the production of shrimp, native Mangur and is earning income of Rs 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh from it in a year. A house has been built near the pond with the income received. In this way, by adopting the fisheries business, the family of the farmer got the means of employment and his economic condition improved. The farmer Podiyaram was constantly in touch with the fisheries department of the district and working on fisheries with new techniques. Have been. They remain the source of inspiration for other farmers for fisheries.
