Chief Minister appeals to farmers left out of crop insurance to get insurance of Kharif crops,

On the request of Chhattisgarh Government, the date of enrollment under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for Kharif season 2022 has been extended from July 15 to July 31 by the Central Government. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India has informed about this by sending a letter to the Agriculture Production Commissioner of Chhattisgarh.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has appealed to the farmers of the state who have not been able to insure the Kharif and Horticulture crops so far, in view of the increase in the date of enrollment of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
With the extension of the enrollment date of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, farmers of Chhattisgarh will now be able to insure their Kharif crops till July 31. Farmers can get insurance of paddy irrigated, paddy unirrigated, maize, soybean, groundnut, moong, urad and tur (tur) crops under Kharif 2022 in the state. Non-loanee farmers who are land holders and sharecroppers can join the scheme. Under this scheme, the claim amount for crop damage is paid as per the provision, under the provision of risk, local calamities, post-harvest damage and extensive damage on the basis of crop-wise yield. Farmers willing to insure the notified crops can get their crops insured by contacting the nearest bank or public service centers or insurance company or rural post office by 31 July 2022 for crop insurance.
For insurance of Kharif crops, farmers have to pay 2 percent of the premium amount and for insurance of horticulture crops, 5 percent of the premium amount has to be contributed as contribution. By insuring their crops, farmers can compensate for crop loss, loss in production due to natural calamity and uncertainty of weather from the insurance claim amount.
