Raipur, 03 February 2024
Farmers across the state are very happy with the decisions taken by Chhattisgarh, formed under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, in the interest of the farmers of the state in a short period of just two and a quarter months. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and his cabinet colleagues are being welcomed by farmer organizations and groups at various places for purchasing 21 quintals of paddy per acre at support price and getting a price of Rs 3100 per quintal. A similar scene of welcome greetings to the Chief Minister by farmer groups was seen today in Narayanpur, the district headquarters of the remote forest area of the state. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai had come for the first time to attend the agricultural fair and agricultural exhibition organized at Ramakrishna Mission Ashram grounds in Narayanpur as the chief guest.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai was warmly welcomed by the officials and members of farmer organizations here for the decisions taken by his government in the interest of farmers and expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister. Officials of farmers’ organizations said that they had not thought that your government would take a decision so soon regarding the purchase of paddy and its price and implement it. The speed with which the Chhattisgarh government of Chief Minister Shri Sai has implemented the matters related to the interest of farmers included in the guarantee of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. For this we congratulate and thank the Chhattisgarh government.
The Chief Minister said that the people of Chhattisgarh have expressed confidence in the guarantees of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Our government will leave no stone unturned to fulfill this trust on top priority. To fulfill the guarantee of the Prime Minister, our government has approved Prime Minister’s Housing to more than 18 lakh eligible families of the state. Fulfilling Modi ji’s guarantee, we are purchasing 21 quintals of paddy per acre from farmers at support price. Despite the record breaking purchase of paddy at the support price in the state, in the interest of the farmers who were left unable to sell the paddy, we increased the scheduled date of paddy purchase by 4 days to 4th February.
The Chief Minister said that the government of Chhattisgarh is a farmer friendly government. This is the first time in the history of paddy procurement in the state that we have procured paddy on Saturday and Sunday also. The Chief Minister said that at present we are paying the support price of Rs 2183 per quintal to the farmer brothers of the state in their bank accounts within 48 hours. We will also soon fulfill the guarantee given by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for giving the price of paddy at Rs 3100 per quintal. At the rate of per quintal, the remaining amount of Rs 917 will be transferred to the farmer brothers in lump sum in their bank accounts.
The Chief Minister said that we have fulfilled another guarantee of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the interest of minor forest produce collectors. An order has been issued to pay tendupatta collection remuneration at the rate of Rs 5500 per standard bag. The promise of increasing the prescribed period of collection by 15 days has also been fulfilled.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that India is an agricultural country. Agriculture has a major contribution in the country’s GDP. Chhattisgarh is called the rice bowl. He said that there was a time when farmers did not have capital for advanced and better farming. Farmers had to do farming by taking money from moneylenders at high interest rates. Farmers were always stuck in debt. Seeing this situation, the then Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee took the biggest step in the interest of farmers and implemented the Kisan Credit Card scheme. Due to this, farmers started getting loans from societies and banks at lower rates. In the year 2003, for the first time, BJP government was formed in Chhattisgarh under the leadership of Dr. Raman Singh. At that time, farmers used to get loans for farming from cooperative banks at concessional interest rates, which has been gradually reduced to zero percent. The then government of Chhattisgarh started the work of giving loans to farmers for farming without interest. Even today we are giving loans to farmers for farming at zero percent interest. Crop insurance, the benefits of which are easily available to farmers across the country. The credit for this also goes to the then Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The crop insurance scheme was simplified during his tenure.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Central Government is working in the interest of 140 crore people of the country. Pradhan Mantri Irrigation Scheme has been implemented to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers. Through Solar Sujala Yojana, the government is working to provide irrigation facilities in the fields of farmers in remote areas where there was no electricity facility.
The Chief Minister said that we will fulfill all the guarantees of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, out of which our government has decided to give Rs 12 thousand every year to the eligible women of the state under Mahtari Vandan Yojana. We will soon fulfill the promise of providing gas cylinders for Rs 10,000 to landless agricultural laborers of the state and Rs 500 to women. Our government has started preparations for this. To fulfill the guarantee of the Prime Minister, our government has implemented Shri Ramlala Darshan Scheme. Arrangements have been made to take the people of the state to Ayodhya at government expense and have darshan of Lord Shri Ram.
Referring to ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’, the Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is striving for the development and upliftment of all sections. He has started Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana for the welfare of the tribal brothers living in remote forest areas, especially the people of backward tribes. Abujhmadia tribe resides in Bastar region. Along with providing better arrangements for permanent housing, roads, drains, electricity-water, education, health etc. in the settlements of these tribes, the work of providing benefits of 11 schemes of the government is being done rapidly. This scheme is being implemented in coordination with 9 departments.
