Agricultural Production Commissioner reviewed the schedule of Kharif 2023 and Rabi 2022-23 crops of Bastar division

Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamalpreet Singh said that Bastar division is a tribal-dominated area, where farmers should be encouraged to promote mustard cultivation. The farmers of Bastar division do farming naturally, which uses very little chemical fertilizers. Encourage farmers to use vermicompost fertilizers and get high yielding seeds distributed, so that the income of farmers increases. Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Singh was addressing the review meeting of Kharif crop assessment for the year 2023 and Rabi crop program for the year 2022-23 of Bastar division in Prerna hall of the district office in Jagdalpur today.
Dr. Kamalpreet Singh said that there is a need to increase the area of products like Kodo, Kutki, Kulthi, as well as involve more and more farmers in the Millet Mission. He said that cultivation of horticulture and commercial crops earns many times more than traditional farming. The state government is also providing loans at zero percent interest to co-operative banks from this year along with attractive grants for their cultivation. Therefore, farmers should be encouraged for their cultivation by giving information about the schemes. He inquired about the progress of the ethanol plant under construction in Kondagaon district and directed to arrange necessary human resources for the operation of the plant, coordinate with oil companies, conduct exposure visits to ethanol plants operating in other states.
Agriculture Production Commissioner called the work of KCC necessary to fulfill the credit related needs of the farmers. Commissioner Mr. Dhavde told that all the districts have worked hard in KCC work, as well as forest rights recognition card holders are also being given the benefit of KCC tax schemes. In the meeting, farmers were informed about Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, short-term crop loan distribution, promotion of other crops instead of paddy, financial and physical progress of the approved project of water catchment area, schemes of Horticulture Department. Necessary instructions were given after reviewing the plans of the Animal Husbandry Department and the plans of the Fisheries Department.
Dr. Singh said that fertilizers should be sold through posh machines only. Farmers should be encouraged to bring organic fertilizers like Sanai and Dhencha into practice. Shri Singh said that the income of farmers will increase only if they get easy loans for agriculture. For this every farmer should be given the benefit of KCC scheme. Along with this, instructions were given to get the upcoming Girdawari work and crop harvesting experiment done by paying special attention to the revenue officials. Along with the development of Gothans and activities of Ripa, Paradan in Gothans, development of pasture, self-supporting Gothans, economic activities in Gothans, manufacture and sale of natural paint made from cow dung, purchase of cow dung in Gothans under Godhan Nyaya Yojana, Vermi on the basis of purchase. Instructions were also given regarding the manufacture and sale of compost.
Dr. Singh said that under the Community Garden Scheme developed by the Department of Horticulture in Gauthans, by linking Anganwadis, ashram hostels and camps of security forces in the districts, increase the sale of vegetables produced here, which will benefit the women’s group more. . He said that there is a limit to income in traditional crops. Farmers will have to be motivated towards commercial farming for higher income. The state government also gives guarantee along with grant for their cultivation. He instructed to prepare cases to benefit maximum farmers.
In the meeting, Divisional Commissioner Mr. Shyam Dhawade, Special Secretary Mr. Fakir Ayaz Tamboli, Director Watershed Mr. Ranveer Sharma, Director Horticulture Mr. Mateshwaran V, Deputy Secretary Agriculture Mrs. Tulika Prajapati and Director Fisheries Mr. S.S. Nag including all District Collectors of the division, District Panchayat CEO, Deputy Officers of Director Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department were present.
