Raipur, 3 November 2020. In line with the intention of the Chhattisgarh government, under the guidance of Village Industries Minister Guru Rudrakumar, the Chhattisgarh Handloom Association has promoted women empowerment. While the handloom association has shown the path of self-reliance to rural women, over 7800 women belonging to self-help groups have provided additional employment in the last two years. Minister Guru Rudrakumar lauded the activities carried out in the handloom association and said that village industry has consistently played an important role in providing employment to the people of rural areas and accelerating the rural economy.
Director of Village Industries Shri Sudhakar Khalkho said that the handloom association has provided additional employment to 7812 women of 651 women self-help groups related to tailoring of uniforms in the last two years, while these groups got Rs 33 crore 68 lakh in the last 24 months Tailoring wages were also distributed. He informed that Rs. 2 crore 35 lakh has been provided for new weaving training to 700 beneficiaries who want to adopt handloom weaving employment. Mr. Khalkho said that by joining handloom, where women of rural areas are getting self-employment, their economic situation is also becoming stronger.
