Review of Basic Literacy and Numeracy

A review meeting was organized in the State Educational Research and Training Council regarding basic literacy and numeracy. Emphasis was laid on identifying text books on the basis of the state curriculum prepared for the basic level. The optimum utilization of the library was discussed. Emphasis was placed on training teachers in areas where the use of multiple languages ​​is required. 
Presiding over the meeting, the director of the State Educational Research and Training Council, Mr. Rajesh Singh Rana said in the meeting organized on the strategy of teaching all the children that how can we teach better to the children of the state, how can we increase the achievement level of the children. What changes can be made in their academic process and what kind of pedagogy can be included. Suggestions were sought from the members present on these issues. The present participants suggested that there is a need for planning of class room for academic perspective. Teachers need to make day-to-day plans. how to do day to day work on work book, Teachers should be trained on this issue. The participants also suggested that the teacher guide should be implemented. Such children should be identified inside the class room who are not able to learn. Therefore, the implementation of formative assessment should be done properly. Most of the teachers teach with the old method. 
It was told in the meeting that most of the schools have taken up the challenge in the Sugghar Padwaiya programme. Such schools, which have not yet taken up the challenge, are being motivated for this so that 100% target is achieved and maximum number of schools will be prepared for self-assessment and request for third party assessment. For this, need based training will also be provided to them.
The meeting was attended by NGOs Aahwaan Trust, Room-to-Read, LLF, APF, Sampark Foundation, and Story Weaver, Pratham and academic members of the Council, who are collaborating in the state in Basic Literacy and Numeracy (BHC).
