Ms. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale delivered a lecture as the keynote speaker
Raipur, 23 August 2024
Under the chairmanship of Shri Suyogya Kumar Mishra, President and retired Chief Secretary of Indian Institute of Public Administration, Chhattisgarh, a lecture and discussion on the topic of Challenges of Election Management and Experience of Past Elections was organized here today at Naveen Vishram Grih located at Civil Line. Chief Electoral Officer Chhattisgarh Ms. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale delivered her lecture as the keynote speaker. On 2 July 2024, after the registration of the institution as a society by the Assistant Registrar of Societies, Raipur, under the Chhattisgarh Society Registration Act 1973, the Indian Institute of Public Administration Chhattisgarh branch has been duly constituted. In which the executive has been constituted under the chairmanship of Shri Suyogya Mishra, former Chief Secretary and under the co-chairmanship of Smt. Indira Mishra and Shri Ajay Singh. This institution, under the leadership and guidance of the main branch of Indian Institute of Public Administration located in New Delhi, as an autonomous society, will carry out activities related to Chhattisgarh state related public administration management training and dissemination of information and will provide the required support to the state government.
In her address, Ms. Reena Baba Kangale informed that the year 2024 will be a historic year from the point of view of elections in the whole world because more than 4 billion people from 80 countries of the world will exercise their right to vote in the elections and will choose their political representatives. India will be a center of attraction in the whole world from the point of view of elections because in the world’s largest democratic country, the work of managing voting is being done by a huge population. Anyway, the peaceful completion of the last assembly and Lok Sabha elections in India has itself become a matter of curiosity for the countries of the world. Chhattisgarh also has a special contribution in this. Because in such a cultural and geographical diversity and a vast area, which is even larger than countries like Ukraine, Sri Lanka, Ghana, the peaceful completion of voting by about 2 crore voters is indeed a great achievement of the administration. Especially in Maoist-affected areas like Bastar, the peaceful completion of voting is the result of the dedication and awareness of our soldiers and all the officers, employees and voters participating in the elections. It is not possible without their cooperation and luck. However, this miracle has been possible only because our team considered such a big election task as a disaster management task and made continuous efforts for planning and preparation from a long time ago. Compared to the year 2018, reaching the target of 76 percent in Vidhan Sabha and 78 percent in Lok Sabha, which is more than the national target in voting percentage, is a very big achievement. Despite the boycott of elections by Naxalites, voters participated in large numbers. This is an unprecedented success. For this, no amount of praise for the willpower of the soldiers and voters is enough.
First of all, retired Additional Chief Secretary Mrs. Indira Mishra welcomed her with a bouquet of flowers. Thereafter, Chairman Mr. Suyogya Mishra gave information about Ms. Reena Baba Kangale working on various posts and informed the members present that with Ms. Kangale’s extensive experience of working on various administrative posts, she was honored in New Delhi for the Best Performing State for smoothly completing the work of election management in the last assembly elections 2023.
In the discussion, many officials including Mr. Ajay Singh, Mr. PC Dalai, Mr. R.S. Vishwakarma, Mr. Omkar Srivastava, Mr. Anoop Srivastava expressed their views. Mr. Anoop Srivastava thanked Reena Baba Kangale, all the participating officials and intellectuals for making the first program of the organization successful and said that everyone’s cooperation in making the organization more successful would be done and every possible effort would be made to make the organization effective in relation to public administration.
