Under Jal Jeevan Mission, supply of pure drinking water is ensured in 357 houses of the village.

Before the start of Jal Jeevan Mission, there was a lot of water problem in Amarkot village of Mahasamund district. People had to go from long distances to get drinking water. The water level in the hand pump was also very low, there women and elderly people had to face the problem of water. During the work of Jal Jeevan Mission, an awareness program was conducted by voluntary organizations and villagers in village Amarkot. Under this, a water and sanitation committee was formed in the village and a committee of water vessels was formed for ATK test. As a result, supply of pure and adequate water has been ensured in 357 houses of the village. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Amarkot village, along with providing clean water to people’s homes, people have also been made aware about water conservation and management.
At present, the problem of the people in village Amarkot has been solved under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Under this mission, tap connections were given to every house by making stand posts through tank construction and pipeline. Due to which pure drinking water is being provided to all the villagers. Water is tested twice a year by the Jalvahini Committee. The committee also has the responsibility of cleanliness and maintenance around the water source and also makes people aware about water borne diseases.
Village Water and Sanitation Committee has been formed at the Gram Panchayat level. There are 16 members in this committee, in which 50 percent participation is from women, 25 percent from Panchayat members and 25 percent from tribal people and preferential people of the village. Their job is to plan and implement supplies and operations and maintenance as well as monitoring and surveillance work. They make reports related to technical and financial assistance on behalf of the committee so that steps can be taken for the improvement of resources and schemes.
