Raipur, 22 October 2020. As per the instructions of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, State Government’s Food and Civil Supply and Consumer Protection has directed all the district collecors to ensure availability of onions in their districts and regulation of market price of the same. Guidelines for monitoring, regulation and survey of the market price of onions has been issued to the collectors.

In the guidelines issued to the District Collectors, it has been stated that the evaluation of market prices of essential goods in the districts by State-level price monitoring cell has revealed unexpected inflation in market retail price of onion in last one month. Collectors of all the districts have been directed to ensure availability of onion stock and to monitor the market price of onions.

Food Civil Supply and Consumer Protection Department has instructed District Collectors to take a meeting of wholesalers and retailers of onion, and evaluate the availability and demand of the same to ensure supply of onions as per the demand. Daily inflow and consumption of onion at district-level should be reviewed and any problems rellated to import, transport and storage of onions should be immediately redressed. Wholesalers should compulsorily display the information about stock available and wholesale price of onions every day at the selling center. Collectors have been asked to publicize the wholesale and retail price of onions in the district so that common people get the information and unnecessary inflation can be avoided.
