Raipur: Destitute children of people killed in Covid-19 epidemic in Chhattisgarh will get free education

Raipur, 31 May 2021.  According to the guidelines of Chief Minister  Bhupesh Baghel, ‘Chhattisgarh Mehtari Dular Yojana 2021’ is being started by the state government to provide free school education as well as scholarship to the destitute children of the dead persons of the state due to the corona epidemic. Notification for the implementation of this scheme has been issued by the School Education Department. 
    According to the notification issued, the scheme will be implemented by the School Education Department. Under the scheme, students entering such eligible schools will be given a scholarship of Rs. 500 per month from class 1st to 8th and Rs. 1000 per month from class 9th to 12th. It is noteworthy that in the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on May 18 under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, a decision was taken regarding the implementation of the Mehtari Dular scheme. 
    In connection with the implementation of the Mehtari Dular Scheme by the School Education Department, all district collectors have been asked to ensure the benefit of this scheme to such children in coordination with the School Education Department, Health Department and Social Welfare Department. The Chhattisgarh Mehtari Dular Scheme is being implemented from 2021 academic session 2021-22. The benefit of the scheme will be provided to the destitute children belonging to the families native to Chhattisgarh. In the eligibility conditions of this scheme, such children whose earning mother or father or both have died due to Kovid-19. Apart from this, destitute children who are eligible to get school education and who have faced the problem of maintenance due to non-availability of adult members of the household will get the benefit of this scheme.
    Children found eligible under the scheme will be provided free education in government schools of the state. Such eligible children will be given priority in admission to Swami Atmanand English Medium School run by the state government and the entire expenditure of their education will be borne by the state government. Along with this, scholarship will also be given. Children whose earning parents died will be given free education. Eligible students will be given incentives for higher education after schooling. Talented students will be provided training, coaching facilities for admission into professional courses. 
    On receipt of information about the destitute children from any source to the Collector, the Collector will make it available to the District Education Officer. Apart from this, students will be able to apply directly to the District Education Officer either by themselves or by the guardian. A committee under the chairmanship of the District Education Officer will be constituted to examine the applications received, in which one officer each from the Health Department and Social Welfare Department will be nominated. The approval will be given by the District Collector on the recommendation of the committee. For the maintenance of records, the register will be maintained by the District Education Officer. The plan will be reviewed from time to time by the District Collector.
