The Public Works Department has taken action against the officials responsible for low-quality construction and non-standard work in road upgradation and renovation work. After inspection and investigation of the workplace, on the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Sao, the department has taken action against four officers. Sub-divisional officer and sub-engineer of Katghora sub-division have been suspended by the Public Works Department for low-quality and non-standard work. A show cause notice has been issued to the then executive engineer of Korba division and the sub-divisional sub-divisional officer.

Since taking charge of the Public Works Department, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao has been continuously emphasizing on the quality of construction works and completing them within the time limit. He has also given strict instructions to the officers for this in departmental review meetings. He has asked to keep it on top priority.

During the inspection of the work site in the ten kilometer long upgradation and renovation work (actual length 23.3 km) of Chotiya-Chirmiri road in Korba district, when the thickness of the asphalting was found to be less on average and the density of the work done was less, the Public Works Department The department has taken action against the concerned officials. In the matter, Sub Divisional Officer of Sub Division No. 2 Katghora, Mr. S.P. Sahu and Deputy Engineer Shri Rakesh Verma have been suspended. In the suspension order issued by the Ministry, it has been said that by carrying out non-standard work and asphalting of the road without following the quality standards, the Sub-Divisional Officer and the Deputy Engineer have misused their authority and committed irregularities in the discharge of their official duties. Therefore, under the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966, Shri S.P. Sahu, Sub-Divisional Officer and Mr. Rakesh Verma, Deputy Engineer, Public Works Department, Sub Division No. 2 Katghora were suspended with immediate effect and their headquarters and office of Chief Engineer, Public Works Department, Nirman Bhawan, Nava Raipur were fixed at Atal Nagar. goes. Both will be eligible for subsistence allowance as per rules during the suspension period. The Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department has been asked to prepare the charge sheet against both the officers and make it available to the government within 15 days.

The Public Works Department has issued a complaint against the then Executive Engineer of Korba Division, Shri A.K. Verma and Sub-Divisional Officer of Korba Sub Division Shri R.N. Show cause notice has been issued to Dubey. In the notice issued by the government to both the officers, it has been said that during the inspection of the work site, the thickness of asphalting was found to be less on average and the density of work done was also less. Both the officers have committed irregularities in the discharge of their official duties by misusing their authority by getting the work done at sub-standard level and without following the quality standards. There has been negligence in the construction work by both the officers which clearly shows gross negligence, indifference and arbitrariness towards their duty. Considering this as serious misconduct under Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965, the government has issued show cause notice to both the officers. They have been asked to submit their response within a time period of seven days from receipt of the notice. If response is not received within the stipulated time, unilateral action will be taken as per rules.
