Raipur: Defense Ministry officials observed the development work in Dantewada

Women’s self-reliance, employment of youth and rehabilitation work of victim families appreciated

Defense Ministry officials inspected the development works in Dantewada.

Under the Study Tour-2025 of National Defence College, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi, a team of 18 senior officers reached Dantewada and observed various schemes related to social and economic upliftment being run in the district and appreciated the efforts being made by the district administration and police department.

The officials first inspected the Denex factory located at Geedam. They were told that the district administration had started the Nava Dantewada Garment Factory with the aim of making the local women self-reliant. The clothes manufactured in this factory are sold in the market under the name of Denex brand. Four factories have been established in the district, which aim to provide employment to about 1,200 families. Here the officials interacted with the working women and encouraged them.

After this, the delegation visited the Naxal Victim Rehabilitation Center located at Karli. The officials were informed that under the Lon Varratu (Homecoming) campaign, safe housing and employment are being provided to surrendered Naxalites and families affected by Naxal violence. These families are being benefited through the schemes of the Central and State Government.

The delegation also visited Education City Jawanga where they interacted with students of Saksham-2 (residential school for children with special needs) and appreciated their achievements. The officials were informed that a smart learning tool called Annie Device has been provided for the education of visually impaired students which helps in learning and reading Braille script.

Apart from this, the officers visited the horse riding training centre, where students are being taught the nuances of horse riding. During this, the students also presented songs and music, which was appreciated by all.

The team also observed the free software engineering classes being given to the students by Nav Gurukul Sanstha. They were told that under this 18-month course, students are being prepared for entrance exams like PET, PMT, IIT, JEE. Apart from this, special sessions related to English communication and leadership are also being conducted for the students. The delegation appreciated the efforts being made for education, employment, women empowerment and rehabilitation of Naxal victims in the district and called it an inspirational model for other places. DIG Shri Kamalochan Kashyap, Collector Shri Mayank Chaturvedi, District Panchayat CEO Shri Jayant Nahata, Additional Superintendent of Police Shri Smritik Rajnala and other officials were present on the occasion.
